Dr. Amy Waechter-Versaw is a leader of teacher engagement and an educational researcher in her role as Associate Director for Teacher Learning and School Partnerships for CEISL, the Collaborative for Equitable and Inclusive STEM Education at Indiana University School of Education at Indianapolis. She has been involved in educational change as a k-8 educator, mentor, school leader, whole school improvement consultant, and educational grants leadership for over 20 years. Amy got her B.S. from Indiana University and her M.Ed. and her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Illinois at Chicago. Her approach to educational change is systemic and teacher driven.
Her research and work interests are within-school trust among teachers and school leaders, equitable and inclusive teaching and learning, teacher professional learning, and whole school improvement. Amy’s approach to her work is informed by the re-humanization of schools, teachers, and students through equitable and inclusive practices, and through trust and compassion-building in schools and school communities. Amy serves on her local public school’s parent network council board, and is a passionate advocate for public schools and civil liberties.
